LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA

Residents of Lake County are encouraged to advantage of the recyling program.

The following materials may be placed in a curbside recycling bin:

Newspaper or magazines Place loose in bin.
Do not place newspaper in brown paper bags or plastic bags.
Plastic Beverage Containers Remove lids and rinse containers.
Recycle plastic bottles having a neck, #1 through #7, any color
Clear, brown and green glass Recycle clear glass food and beverage containers.
Remove lids, and rinse container.
Paper labels do not need to be removed.
Aluminum Beverage Cans Rinse and recycle all aluminum beverage cans.
Steel Cans Rinse and place in bin.
Recycle all steel (tin) food and pet food cans.
Household batteries Place batteries in clear plastic bag before placing in bin.

The following materials are recyclable but must be brought to the drop-off locations:
Please, do not place these items by the curb, they will not be picked up.

Electronics Examples of Electronics waste are computers, televisions, VCRs, Fax machines, CD players, and Stereos.
Cardboard Must be brought to drop-off locations for proper disposal

MARION COUNTY, FLORIDA

Recycling Division

All eighteen recycling centers are located throughout the county.
These centers are fenced, lighted, and staffed.

No commercial waste or commercial recyclables are accepted at any recycling centers. Businesses with recyclables can call the Solid Waste Department at (352) 671-8465 for assistance. The recycling centers are open to county residents that pay solid waste assessment.

The Baseline Recycling center (not the Landfill) Hours of Operation are:
Monday thru Saturday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
and Sunday 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

All other recycling centers their Hours of Operation are:
Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Friday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Closed on Tuesday and Thursday.

Items accepted for recycling include:

bullet Glass bottles sorted by color, rinsed, lids removed
bullet Plastic bottles #1 through #7, rinsed, remove lids and smash, all colors
bullet Newspaper and inserts, loose or bundled
bullet Magazines and junk mail
bullet Corrugated cardboard, flatten boxes
bullet Aluminum cans and clean aluminum foil
bullet Rinsed tin cans now go into the scrap metal box
bullet Used motor oil and oil filters (5 gallons or less per visit accepted)
bullet Household and automotive batteries
bullet Latex paint (5 gallons or less per visit)
bullet Junk mail
bullet Yard waste (2 cubic yards per day per resident; under 4 inch diameter and 4 feet long accepted)
bullet Scrap metal and appliances–NO COMMERCIAL
bullet Sharps (In approved bio-hazard containers in the kiosks.)
bullet NO mattresses or box springs are accepted
bullet NO electronic equipment
bullet NO furniture except on designated days
